Join the BioRAMP Lab at ITU!
Scholarships Available for Master's/Doctoral Students and a Postdoctoral Researcher
We are excited to announce the launch of the Bio-Resourced Advanced Materials & Processes Laboratory (BioRAMP Lab) in February 2025 within the Chemical Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University (ITU). Funded by the TÜBİTAK-BİDEB-2232-B program, our project, titled “Biomass-Derived Thermochemical Synthesis of Carbon- and Metal-Based Nanoparticles for Bioenergy and Antimicrobial Applications (BioSynApp),” is seeking new members passionate about sustainability to join our team. Team members will also collaborate with our colleagues at ITU’s Molecular Biology & Genetics Department and have full access to the cutting-edge facilities of Synthetic Fuels & Chemicals Technology Center (ITU-SENTEK).
Open Positions with Full Scholarships
- 2 Master’s Students
- 2 Doctoral Students
- 1 Postdoctoral Researcher
Main Tasks in the Project BioSynApp
- Production of microalgae-based biodiesel and carbon-based nanoparticles
- Preparation of biomass-derived calcium oxide nanoparticles and nanocatalysts
- Lignin-derived synthesis and characterization of green solvents/chemicals
- Characterization and antimicrobial testing of bio-derived nanoparticle systems
- Data analysis/analytics (microbial growth and materials characterization data)
Preferred Backgrounds and Enrollment Options
We welcome applicants holding BSc/MSc/PhD degrees in Chemical/Environmental/Materials Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Computational Science, or closely related fields. Enrollment to a graduate program is mandatory for students, preferably at ITU. We give priority to the following MSc/PhD programs of ITU:
- Chemical Engineering
- Molecular Biology-Genetics and Biotechnology
- Polymer Science and Technology
- Materials Science and Engineering
- Nano-Science and Nano-Engineering
We are open to considering special arrangements for highly motivated candidates with unique circumstances.
What We Value at the BioRAMP Lab
- We are committed to fostering innovation, curiosity, independent problem-solving, and teamwork in a supportive and inclusive environment.
- A high GPA or advanced English proficiency is not a priority at the BioRAMP Lab. However, new graduate school applicants should meet the application requirements of ITU, and we encourage our team members to improve their academic standing and language skills during their time with us.
